Home made pizza (dough from scratch)

Ingredients
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon "quick rise" yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tbsp. oil (I used olive oil)
  • 2-3 cups of all-purpose flour
    • Note: You may not use all the flour. Quantity depends on how much water the flour absorbs
  • In a large mixing bowl (or mixer), mix together water+yeast+honey/sugar, salt and oregano.
  • Add flour a little at at at a time until you get a soft dough which is not too sticky 
  • Cover and rest the dough for 10-15 minutes.
  • Pre-heat oven to 450F
  • Spread the pizza dough on to a pizza stone/baking sheet. 
  • Note: I used a pizza stone. Before placing the dough on it, I sprinkled a little Semolina (Sooji/Rawa) to prevent the dough from sticking on to the stone.
  • Spread some pizza sauce. I used cream of broccoli soup (condensed) as the pizza sauce. 😁 
  • Place toppings and sprinkle seasoning ix (see below) on top.
  • Bake for 15-16 minutes until cheese has fully melted and crust is firm
  • Remove from oven, allow to cool slightly and slice.
  • Serve with a dollop of cold sour cream 

Toppings I used:

  • 1 cup Chipotle chicken (chicken marinated with store-bought chipotle seasoning, grilled and then diced)
  • Sliced Roma tomato
  • Sliced red onion
  • Muenster cheese
  • Spicy feta (feta mixed with some hot sauce)
  • Sliced Jalapeno peppers
  • Capers (a few)
  • Seasoning: Mix Oregano+Chili powder+garlic powder+ Dried basil
