Absolutely scrumptious beef dish to seve with Jasmine rice and sautéed broccoli
Ingredients for beef:
Beef juliennes- 1.5 cups
For marinating (1/2 - 1 hour)
- Pepper to taste
- Soy sauce - 1 tbsp
- Teriyaki marinade (thick) or Hoisin sauce- 2 tbsp
- Rice or white vinegar - 1tbsp
- Red pepper flakes - 1 tbsp
- Cayenne or chili powder - 1/2 tsp
- Chopped ginger - 1 tbsp
- Chopped garlic - 1 tbsp
- Meat tenderizer- 1/2 tsp (optional)
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Brown sugar - 1 tbsp
Preheat Airfryer to 390F, spray a little cooking oil in the basket. Arrange the beef in a single layer and cook for 7-8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
Ingredients for sauce:
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Medium Onion - sliced
- Dry Red Chillies - 2-3
- Szechuan peppercorns - 1/2 tsp (optional)
- Chopped ginger - 1 tbsp
- Chopped garlic - 1 tbsp
- Pepper to taste
- Soy sauce - 1.5 tbsp
- Rice or white vinegar - 1tbsp
- Brown sugar - 1 tbsp
- Hot water - 1/2 cup
- Salt to taste
- Sesame oil - 2 tspn
- Cornstarch - 2 tbsp mixed in 4-5 tbsp of cold water
- Green onions - 2 sliced into strips
- Sesame seeds - 1 tsp (optional)
Bringing it all together
- Heat oil in a skillet.
- On HIGH heat saute onions for 1-2 minutes.
- Add dry red chilli and szechuan peppers. Stir well.
- Add ginger and garlic, saute for a minute.
- Add pepper, soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, and hot water. Mix and adjust salt and seasonings as needed. Bring sauce to a boil.
- Add air-fried beef and Sesame oil. Mix well.
- Add 1-2 tbsp of cornstarch slurry. Mix immediately until beef strips are well coated with the sauce.
- Transfer to serving dish and garnish with green onions and Sesame seeds.
